Rescuing Sectoids from the Food Chamber

    The mission briefing for the Food Chamber suggest rescuing Sectoids as a secondary objective. What exactly counts as rescuing them? I don't see anything on the map that would clue towards this, and searching around online has turned up nothing.

    Your relationship rating with the mutant alliance I think, though code wise I'm not sure

    I'm afraid that's not what I was asking. I do know that is the effect of rescuing the Sectoids. I was asking how the game determines whether you did in fact rescue them during the mission.

    I'm pretty sure you count as saving them by just by not killing them, like the other civilians. I guess x-com let them get into the ship once the mission ends

    This is indeed how the game appears to operate. Though i must add that X-COM must NOT harm any sectoids either, otherwise the damage to relations outweighs the boost to relations by saving the remaining sectoids...
