As of the moment of this post, OpenApoc is coming quite close to implementing every feature that is obvious or well-known about vanilla. We have most of Battlescape done, we have basic Cityscape with flying vehicles, etc. In order to complete the game and have it released, what remains is mostly not-well-studied or not studied at all. We'd love to do it, but we don't know what exactly we're supposed to do. This is where you can help, especially if you want to contribute to OpenApoc but have no programming skills / no desire to code. Here's how it's going to work: I will be posting tasks that require solving in this forum section. Tasks like "how does item X work" or "what's the actual effect of Y". Solving them may require just giving a link to an article/guide that explains the feature, or it may require playing the original. In playing the original, editing save files via tools like j'ordost apoc'd would likely be useful. You might also need to make several tests to confirm your findings or gather statistical data. Essentially, you will be describing how certain feature would be implemented in OpenApoc. By helping this way, programmers will be able to spend less time studying vanilla and more time programming, and thus, OpenApoc would be completed faster, for everybody to enjoy. Win-win! If you're willing to contribute, check other topics in this subforum and pick whatever you're willing to lend a hand with! Here simple guide how to help and what tools use http://openapoc.org/threads/guide-how-to-help-by-playing-in-x-com-3.228/ PS: Even if you see no immediate activity from me or other devs on the forums or in the update feed or on facebook, please be sure to know that project is still going on, it's not dead, and you still should contribute if you want to. We might have to take some time off due to other life issues, but when we return, we will use whatever info was gathered and implement it. So don't be discouraged, if you want and can, please contribute!
